8BU Range | 8,700 volts | 800 amp | High Voltage Couplers

Rated for 800 amps with an operating voltage of 8,700 volts, the 8BU has an ingress protection rating of IP68.

In service since 2008, the 8BU is suitable for use in Non-Ex operational environments, such as opencast and metalliferous mining. Inspired by the design of the 15BKA 4-Bolt coupler, the 8BU was developed with the intention of creating a physically smaller coupler with a lower operating voltage. When closing the coupler system, the guide pin of the 8BU becomes enclosed in the body casting, protecting it from external damage. Requiring just four bolts to open and close the coupler system, this feature allows for faster installation and maintenance times.
